What a MOPH inspection finds with wai

With wai, patient enquiries are answered the same day in Arabic or English, consent is recorded before the visit, notes are signed during it, and every complaint sits on the patient's own thread with its times. When a MOPH inspector or the Fitness to Practice Section asks for a file, it opens whole.

What does MOPH ask of a health facility in 2026?

Five areas, from the facility licence to the patient's rights, run by three MOPH departments.

How does a MOPH facility licence work?

MOPH publishes no public rating. It licenses in three stages, inspects, and sanctions what it finds.3

  1. Registration5 working days
  2. Initial assessment20 working days
  3. Final assessment20 working days, with inspection
  4. LicenceIssued after final assessment
  1. 45

working days across the three licensing stages MOPH publishes for a new health facility.3

  2. 27

individuals permanently blocked from Qatar's health sector in the first half of 2026 for falsified experience certificates.4

  3. 30 days

to appeal a sanction to the Minister of Public Health after a Fitness to Practice decision.5

  • Since 14 April 2026, engineering drawings for a health facility are approved through the Ministry of Municipality's Building Permit System, once registration and the preliminary approval letter are in hand.
  • Sanctions run from advice, caution and warning to audit, partial or whole closure of a facility, and cancellation of a licence.
  • A facility may not let a practitioner work before their DHP licence is complete. MOPH closed a facility for it in March 2024.
  • The medical director signs an undertaking to display and apply the Patients' Bill of Rights, and the facility answers for any breach.

What has changed for Qatar facilities?

Three changes a facility in Qatar should know about in October 2026, and which of them bind.

  1. In force since 14 April 2026, engineering drawings for a new facility go through the Building Permit System online, instead of in person at the Health Facilities Department.
  2. Launched on 11 January 2026, the Qatar Patient Safety Classification sets more than 25 incident categories and four levels, applied across government, semi-government and private facilities.6
  3. QPSS, the national patient safety reporting platform, is open to every facility in Qatar. MOPH encourages facilities to join, through one or two nominated focal points, and its page does not make joining mandatory.

Three MOPH departments, one facility

Who at the Ministry does what for a private facility in Qatar.

  1. The Health Facilities Department licenses and renews facilities, inspects them in the field and follows up penalties.2
  2. The Department of Healthcare Professions licenses practitioners, accredits CPD, and through Fitness to Practice investigates complaints and audits practitioners' performance.
  3. The Healthcare Quality Department runs patient safety and risk management, the National Clinical Guidelines and infection prevention, and the QPSS reporting platform.
  4. Law No. 13 of 2016 sits beside them. Health data is personal data of a special nature, processed only with permission from the competent department.

Questions

What is the best clinic software for MOPH compliance in Qatar?

The best MOPH software is the system your facility already runs on, so the evidence is a by-product of the work. Look for one record behind booking, notes, messaging in Arabic and English, payments and access, a full audit trail, and records kept under the right country's rules. wai is built that way, to help you achieve a full MOPH facility licence.

Is there MOPH approved clinic software?

Qatar's Ministry of Public Health licenses and inspects health facilities and practitioners. It does not approve, certify or endorse software, wai included, and software cannot earn a licence on a provider's behalf. wai keeps the records your team uses to show MOPH how care is delivered, and MOPH decides the licence.

How long does a MOPH facility licence take?

MOPH publishes three stages, registration in 5 working days, initial assessment in 20 and final assessment with inspection in 20, about 45 working days once each stage is complete.

Who licenses doctors and nurses in Qatar?

The Department of Healthcare Professions at MOPH, through its Health Practitioners Registration and Licensing Section, with a qualifying exam for named categories.

Must a facility display the Patients' Bill of Rights?

Yes. Since 2016 every facility must publish and apply it, displayed in at least three languages with Arabic and English mandatory, and the medical director signs an undertaking to MOPH.

Does a Qatar facility need JCI accreditation?

No, MOPH licenses and inspects every facility. JCI accreditation is voluntary, and some hospitals hold it for international patients.

Does wai work in Arabic?

Yes. wai drafts replies in the language the patient writes in, Arabic, English or any other, for your team to approve.

Where does wai keep our records?

In its own country, under that country's rules, encrypted, with a full audit log. We set this up with you before go-live.
