The baseline assessment
Cardiovascular disease alone caused at least 19 million deaths in 2021, and most of the risk behind it can be measured years ahead.1 NICE asks for a full formal risk assessment with QRISK3 for people aged 25 to 84 without cardiovascular disease.2
- Request the assessment. The patient chooses a time online and receives what to expect, including fasting or preparation instructions your clinicians set.
- Take the history and measurements. Family history, lifestyle, blood pressure and the tests your protocol includes. The USPSTF recommends screening adults 18 or older for hypertension.3
- Estimate risk with a validated tool. Record the tool, the inputs and the result in the note, so the next review compares like with like.2
- Write the summary and the plan. The clinician signs a summary the patient can read, with the plan and the date of the next review.
How wai handles it
- Appointments. Patients request the assessment from your own website at any hour, with a reminder before the visit.
- Scribe. The assessment note, the summary letter and any referral are drafted from the consultation, cited to published clinical guidelines, for the clinician to read, edit and sign.
- Billing. The price and cancellation policy are shown before the patient commits, and the card payment is reconciled against the visit.
