IGJ guides

Each guide answers one question a provider in the Netherlands asks about IGJ, from the official sources it cites. There are 7 guides across 7 topics, last checked on 16 October 2026.

The depth of an inspection readiness review, written from the Wkkgz, the Wtza, the WGBO and the IGJ's own pages. The IGJ made 2,020 inspection visits and received 1,790 calamiteit reports in 2025. These are the answers that let a visit end with no measures. Each guide ends with how wai does the work.

How the guides map to the IGJ framework

The hub sets out the 5 headings IGJ works to, and the guides take them one task at a time.

The 5 headings on the IGJ hub

  1. Goede zorg and the kwaliteitssysteem, 5 articles on the hub. The zorgaanbieder gives good care, safe, effective, efficient and client-centred, organises its people and materials to deliver it, and runs a system that watches, controls and improves quality.
  2. Meldingen to the IGJ, 5 requirements on the hub. The zorgaanbieder reports every calamiteit, violence in the care relationship and dismissal for serious failure to the IGJ without delay, and tells the patient about any incident with noticeable consequences.
  3. Klachten and geschillen, 4 articles on the hub. A written, low-threshold complaints scheme, a klachtenfunctionaris who advises the complainant at no cost, a reasoned written answer within six weeks, and membership of a recognised geschilleninstantie.
  4. Wtza toetreding and the register, 4 requirements on the hub. Every new zorgaanbieder reports to the CIBG before it starts, and an instelling providing medisch specialistische zorg or Zvw or Wlz care needs a toelatingsvergunning. The Minister keeps a public register of all zorgaanbieders.
  5. The dossier under the WGBO, 5 articles on the hub. The hulpverlener keeps a dossier for every patient, informs the patient and has their consent, keeps the file for twenty years from its last change, and gives the patient access and a copy on request.

Questions about the IGJ guides

Which IGJ guide should I read first?

Start with The inspection visit, the first guide on this page, about 8 minutes of reading, filed under Visit. The other 6 each stand on their own, so take them in the order your own preparation needs.

How do these guides relate to the IGJ hub?

The IGJ hub sets out the 5 headings IGJ works to and how wai evidences each one. Each guide goes one level down, to a single task, with steps to follow, a template to copy, answers to common questions and the sources behind it.

How current are the IGJ guides?

Every guide shows the date its facts were checked against the official sources it cites. All 7 were checked on 16 October 2026, the same date the hub shows beside its Updated line.

Are the IGJ guides legal advice?

They are guidance, not legal advice, written from what IGJ publishes, with a link to the source for each fact. The IGJ does not endorse wai or any software, and the inspection judgment for your organisation is decided by the Inspectie Gezondheidszorg en Jeugd.

How do I request a demo for IGJ?

Request a demo from this page and it reaches the wai team with IGJ already named, so the call starts from IGJ rather than a general tour. You can also write to team@wellnessa-i.com.
