What can a Singapore clinic say in its adverts under HCSA?

Only what is factually accurate and capable of being substantiated, never exaggerated, false, misleading or deceptive, and never laudatory. The Healthcare Services (Advertisement) Regulations 2021 have applied since 3 January 2022, and also cover reviews, testimonials and endorsements.

The rules

The regulations came into operation on 3 January 2022. Information must be factually accurate and capable of being substantiated, must not be exaggerated, false, misleading or deceptive, and must not be laudatory. A regulation deals with reviews, testimonials and endorsements.¹ They sit with the other requirements every licensee must meet.²

1. Check it is true. Every statement factually accurate.
2. Check it can be proved. Evidence on file for every claim.
3. Take out the praise. No superlatives, no best, no leading.
4. Check reviews and testimonials. Check testimonials and endorsements against the regulations.
5. Record the check. Who approved it, and when.
