A new Law on Personal Data Protection was published in the Official Gazette of Montenegro No. 133/26 on 11 September 2026.² It enters into force on the eighth day after publication and applies six months later, when the law of 2008 and its amendments cease to apply.² Its Article 10 forbids processing health data unless a listed ground applies.² One ground covers processing needed for preventive medicine, medical diagnosis, the provision of health care or treatment, or the management of health services, on the basis of law or a contract with a health professional and under professional secrecy.² Explicit consent for a specific purpose is another.²
