Key points

Summary

A Prague clinic can use AI for notes and patient messages under GDPR, with the Office for Personal Data Protection (ÚOOÚ) as supervisor. The national eHealth infrastructure built under Act 325/2021 includes a Shared Health Record that providers read and write through their own systems, and wai is built to connect to it.

Every enquiry from a Vinohrady resident or a visitor in a Malá Strana hotel answered before the clinic opens, and every note signed before the doctor leaves. Prague is a capital of 1.41 million people with hundreds of thousands of foreign residents and millions of visitors, so the inbox never sleeps.1

The private care market in Prague

The Czech Statistical Office counted 1,409,528 people living in Prague on 30 June 2026.1 Visitors arrive on top of that. In the second quarter of 2026 the city's collective accommodation hosted 2,170,061 guests for 4,989,610 nights.1

Care across the country runs through small independent practices. In 2024 the Czech Republic had 25,267 independent doctors' practices, of which 5,378 were adult GP practices and 5,593 were run by general dentists.2 A Prague clinic competes on how quickly a patient gets a reply and a time.

The rules a clinic in Prague works under

Each provider appears in the core register of healthcare providers, a component of eHealth under Sections 19, 20 and 25 of Act 325/2021. The administrative body or the competent regional authority makes the entry, and the provider keeps its own opening hours and contact details current.4 Doctors belong to the Czech Medical Chamber, which keeps the public list of doctors.8

The Office for Personal Data Protection (ÚOOÚ) supervises personal data, health data included.7 The Ministry of Health set up a Committee for Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare, which met for the first time on 16 January 2025 to steer how AI enters Czech care, with the EU AI Act on its agenda.6

The Shared Health Record is defined in Section 34a of Act 325/2021. Patients view it through the national eHealth portal or the EZKarta app, can restrict sharing and grant access to others, and providers read and write it through an API in their own systems.5

wai hosts each clinic's records in its own country, under that country's rules. We set this up with your clinic. wai is compliant with these rules and built for clinics in Prague. wai is built to connect to the Shared Health Record. We set up your clinic's connection with you.

The languages patients write in

Czech leads, and the mix behind it is wide. IPR Prague, the city's planning institute, counted 345,000 foreign residents in 2022, up from 61,000 in 2001. Most come from Ukraine and Slovakia, with a significant number from Vietnam and growing numbers from Romania, Bulgaria, India and the Philippines.3

wai works in any language. A patient can answer intake questions by voice in their own language, and the clinician reads them in English.10 Every reply is drafted for a person at the clinic to approve before it goes.

What a demo shows in Prague

An email lands at 22:10 from a project manager in Žižkov who wants a skin check before a trip home. wai places it in her thread next to last spring's WhatsApp messages, reads the dermatologists' busy times from Google Calendar, Outlook or Apple Calendar, and drafts a reply offering two open Thursday times. The receptionist approves it at 8:00.

She books on the clinic's site in three taps, earliest time first, and pays a deposit in koruna into the clinic's own Stripe account. A confirmation, a receipt and an intake questionnaire follow. After the visit wai drafts the note and a letter for her GP, and the dermatologist reviews and signs both. Every message, draft, approval and signature is logged and exportable.9

For health systems, insurers and public bodies in Prague

Hospital groups, health insurers and public bodies in Prague can have wai build a system of their own on one patient record, starting with a single pathway, with data, configuration and model rights agreed in the contract. The approach is on the organisations page.

Where to start

First, check your entry in the provider register and that your opening hours and contacts are current. Second, list who in the team can see which records, and which of them should write to the Shared Health Record. Third, count last month's enquiries by language and by hour.

Bring that count to a fifteen-minute demo. The one inbox guide shows how every channel lands in one thread per patient, and pricing is published on the pricing page.

Bring a week of Czech and English enquiries and watch each one drafted for your team to approve.
