Key points

Summary

A private clinic in Netanya can use AI to draft notes and patient replies under Israel's Privacy Protection Law, which requires a notice when data is collected and gives patients access to their data in Hebrew, Arabic or English. The Privacy Protection Authority enforces the law, and wai hosts each clinic's records in Israel.

Every patient and every adult child calling on a parent's behalf answered in their own language, and the evening clear by the sea. Nearly one Netanya resident in five is 65 or over.1

The private care market in Netanya

The Central Bureau of Statistics put Netanya's average 2023 population at 228,200, with a median age of 37.5.1

The age profile shapes demand. Netanya had 24,000 residents aged 65 to 74 and 20,500 aged 75 and over, alongside 52,300 children under 15.1 Physicians who treat them practise under a licence from the Ministry of Health, which can suspend a licence it has granted.4

The rules a clinic in Netanya works under

The Privacy Protection Authority regulates and enforces the Privacy Protection Law for personal information held digitally, with administrative and criminal enforcement over private, business and public bodies alike.5

Section 11 of the law requires a notice whenever a clinic asks a person for data to store in a database.3 The notice says whether giving the data is a legal duty or voluntary and what follows if consent is refused, the purpose, the controller's name and contact details, who will receive the data and why, and the right to access and correct it.3

Under Section 13 every person may access the data a database holds about them, and the controller provides it in Hebrew, Arabic or English.3 Where health data could seriously harm the person or endanger their life, the controller may give it to a physician or psychologist on their behalf instead.3

wai hosts each clinic's records in its own country, under that country's rules. We set this up with your clinic. wai is compliant with these rules and built for clinics in Netanya. Signed notes, letters and the activity log can be exported for an access request, and every draft and approval is logged.6

The languages Netanya patients write in

Hebrew is the mother tongue of most younger Israelis but of far fewer older ones. In the CBS 2011 Social Survey it was the first language of 60% of people aged 20 to 44, 44% of those aged 45 to 64 and 18% of those aged 65 and over.2 Among Jewish respondents, English, French, Spanish, Amharic and Romanian were among the mother tongues beyond Hebrew.2

wai works in any language. Intake answers can be spoken in any language, and the clinician reads them before the visit.7 An older patient writes in the language she grew up with, her son writes in Hebrew, and each gets a reply drafted for a member of the team to approve.

What a demo shows in Netanya

At 21:45 a daughter in Paris sends a WhatsApp in French, asking whether her mother in Netanya can see the ophthalmologist about blurred vision before the holidays. The message lands in her mother's thread. wai finds two Sunday times when the ophthalmologist is available in Google Calendar, Outlook or Apple Calendar and writes the answer in French, and the coordinator checks it and sends it at 8:00.

Her mother receives a confirmation and an intake questionnaire, and answers the questions by voice in French.7 A missed call from her neighbour becomes a drafted text for the team to send.

On Sunday the ophthalmologist lets her know an AI scribe is drafting the note, and after the examination corrects the draft and signs it. wai drafts the letter to her health fund doctor, and her mother's wai Profile holds the letter and results, with permissions she can revoke. Each step, from draft to signature, sits in the clinic's log.6

For hospitals, health funds and government in Israel

Hospitals, health funds and municipal programmes in Israel can ask wai to build a single care pathway, eye and memory care for older residents for instance, kept in Israel, with ownership of data, configuration and models fixed in the contract. The steps are on the organisations page.

Where to start

First, rewrite the intake form so its notice covers each point Section 11 lists.3 Second, decide who answers an access request and in which of Hebrew, Arabic or English, and when health data goes through a physician.3 Third, add the AI scribe line to the consent, using the consent form template.

Then tally last month's enquiries by language and by who sent them, patient or family, and bring them to a fifteen-minute demo. Prices are on the pricing page.

Bring a week of messages from patients and their families, in every language they arrived in, and watch each reply drafted for your team to approve.
