Summary
A Costa del Sol clinic can use AI for notes and patient messages under GDPR and Spanish law, with a person at the clinic approving every message and the clinician signing every note. Andalusian rules for aesthetic medicine add a patient register, treatment logs and the registry number on every advert.
On the coast from Málaga to Estepona, the clinics that stay booked answer a resident's evening message before breakfast and close each day with every treatment log complete. More than a third of Fuengirola's residents hold a foreign nationality, and Andalusia sets its own rules for the aesthetic medicine many of them seek.35

The private care market on the Costa del Sol
The Junta de Andalucía's statistics institute counted 160,478 residents in Marbella in 2025, of whom 49,813 held a foreign nationality.1 Mijas had 94,320 residents and 30,618 foreign nationals, Fuengirola 84,857 and 31,808, and Estepona 79,593 and 22,778.234
Across those four towns, close to one resident in three holds another nationality, and each has its own largest group. Morocco leads in Marbella at 9.8% of foreign residents, the United Kingdom in Mijas at 24.6% and in Estepona at 17.9%, and Finland in Fuengirola at 14.2%.1243
The rules a clinic on the Costa del Sol works under
Health centres in Andalusia are authorised and entered in the Registro Andaluz de Centros, Servicios y Establecimientos Sanitarios under Decree 69 of 2008, and the Junta's health ministry approves operating guides for each type of unit.56
The guide for aesthetic medicine units, approved by Order of 3 April 2024, sets out the records a Marbella or Estepona aesthetic clinic keeps.5 They are a patient register showing identity, sex, date, time and the treating professional, a follow-up sheet for every botulinum toxin treatment recording professional, date and dose and filed in the clinical history, and a daily log for medical laser and IPL use with the power applied and any incident.5 Every advert, on the web and social media included, carries the registry number assigned with the operating authorisation.5
Spain's Law 41 of 2002 on patient autonomy keeps consent verbal as a general rule and requires it in writing for surgery and invasive diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.7 Article 17 obliges health centres to keep clinical documentation for at least five years from discharge after each episode of care.7 The Agencia Española de Protección de Datos supervises how that documentation is handled.8
wai hosts each clinic's records in its own country, under that country's rules. We set this up with your clinic. wai is compliant with these rules and built for clinics in Costa del Sol.9
The languages Costa del Sol patients write in
Fuengirola has the highest foreign share of the four towns at 37.5% of residents, and Mijas the highest British share of its foreign residents at 24.6%.32 Marbella's foreign residents are spread widely, with its largest group, from Morocco, making up under a tenth of them.1
wai works in any language.10 A message is drafted back in the language it arrived in, and a person at the clinic approves it before it goes.
What a demo shows on the Costa del Sol
The demo opens on an aesthetic clinic near Puerto Banús. At 21:30 a resident from La Cala de Mijas sends a WhatsApp asking for a follow-up toxin appointment before a family wedding, and an email arrives from a visitor staying in Nueva Andalucía asking about a consultation that week. wai reads the doctor's busy times from Google Calendar, Outlook or Apple Calendar, offers an open slot and drafts a reply in the patient's language, and the coordinator approves it at 9:00.
The patient books on the clinic's own website, earliest time first, pays a deposit in euros through the clinic's own Stripe account and receives a confirmation, a receipt and an intake questionnaire. In the treatment room, the doctor's note with product, dose and date is drafted while the doctor talks, and the doctor reviews and signs it before it joins the clinical history the Andalusian guide requires.5
Every message, draft, approval and signature is logged and exportable, so an inspector's question about who treated whom and when has a written answer.9
For health systems, insurers and public bodies in Andalusia
Hospital groups, insurers and public bodies on the coast can commission a system built on wai for one pathway, such as international patient intake, with records hosted in Spain, clinician sign-off on every note and the rights to data and configuration in the contract. The organisations page sets out how such a project starts.
Where to start
First, check that the registry number appears on the website, the booking page and every social media advert.5 Second, confirm that each toxin follow-up sheet and laser log entry can be filed in the clinical history and kept at least five years.57 Third, add a line to the consent form saying that AI drafts the note and the doctor signs it, using the aesthetic clinic guide for the front desk side.
Then count last month's enquiries by hour and by season, and bring them to a fifteen-minute demo. Prices are published on the pricing page.
Bring a week of high-season enquiries and watch each one drafted for your team to approve.
