How we scored them

Each product was read on its own website between September and October 2026, the date is on every cell. We scored what the vendor says it does, not what a sales call promises, because a buyer can check a public page and cannot check a call.

Three limits are worth stating. A feature missing from a website may still exist, so "not listed" means exactly that. We did not test note accuracy here, which needs a controlled evaluation with real or simulated consultations. And we make wai, so our own column comes from our own pages, which you can hold us to.

What the table shows

Every product drafts the note. The spread opens after it. Heidi, Dragon Copilot and wai draft letters and give cited answers. Accurx adds booking through Self-Book and saves notes to EMIS and SystmOne in one click, which matters to an NHS practice more than anything else on this list.

Only wai lists all nine, including calls and messages, booking and payments on the same record. That is the difference between a scribe and a system for the day, and it is the reason a clinic that runs its own front desk should look at it first.

Price is the second split. Heidi publishes UK figures, Accurx publishes a per-patient rate, wai publishes a per-clinician rate. Nabla and Dragon Copilot are sold through their sales teams.

Who should choose which

Choose wai if you run a private clinic and want the note, the letters, the codes, the front desk and the payments handled on one record, priced on one public page.

Choose Heidi if documentation is the job and you want a published UK price and a large user base. Its EHR integrations, EMIS and Semble among them, sit on its higher plans.

Choose Accurx Scribe if you are an NHS GP practice already on Accurx and want notes saved straight into EMIS or SystmOne.

Look at Dragon Copilot or Nabla if you are a larger organisation on Epic, Oracle or athenahealth and buy through procurement.

NHS or private decides first

A private clinic answers to UK GDPR and its own clinical governance rather than to NHS procurement. That is £0dom to move quickly, and it is also the full weight of the data protection duties landing on the clinic itself, so the vendor's processing terms, residency and retention still have to be read before any audio is captured.

The regulatory floor

DTAC, the NHS Digital Technology Assessment Criteria, assesses five areas, clinical safety, data protection, technical assurance, interoperability, and usability and accessibility. It is the baseline the NHS expects of digital health tools. Ask every vendor where its assessment stands, and hold out for a specific answer. A completed assessment you can read is the strongest one. A stated date, with a named Clinical Safety Officer and the hazard log and safety case that sit under the clinical safety section, is the honest second.
