The honest answer is that most of this category will not tell you. Of the best-known scribes a UK private practice shortlists, one publishes a figure you can read without a call and four do not, and the one that does is not the one with the largest marketing budget.
The figures below were read from each vendor's own pricing page on 23 September 2026. Where a vendor publishes nothing, this page says so rather than repeating a number somebody else estimated.
The more useful question is not what the subscription costs. It is what the subscription covers, because the gap between the headline tier and the tier carrying letters and coding is usually larger than the gap between two vendors.

The four that publish nothing
Heidi shows four plans, the £0 one, Clinician, Practice and Scribe, with no figure against any of them, read on heidihealth.com on 23 September 2026. It listed $150 per user a month billed annually until August 2026 and then removed the numbers.
Abridge, Suki and Nabla publish no price either. Every figure circulating online for those three comes from a third party rather than from the vendor, and this page will not repeat one, because neither we nor you can check it.
That is a commercial choice rather than a fault in the software, and Abridge in particular is an excellent enterprise product. It does mean a practice cannot budget or shortlist without a sales conversation, which is the cost of the choice rather than a hidden charge.
The tier hides more than the vendor does
Freed is the clearest illustration and the most transparent vendor in the US market. $39 a month covers up to 40 notes and the scribe alone. $79 buys unlimited notes. Letters, referrals, patient instructions, EHR push, dictation and ICD-10 with CPT coding are all on Premier at $104 a month paid annually or $119 monthly, read on getfreed.ai on 23 September 2026.
So the spread inside one vendor is three times, and the number that appears in most comparison tables is the one that does none of the things a clinic was actually buying it for. Read the tier you would live on rather than the headline.
Freed also gives Core at £0 to residents, students and trainees, and runs a seven day trial with no card. Both are worth knowing and neither appears in a price comparison.
What currency costs a British practice
Freed, the one scribe here with a published figure, quotes United States dollars, and Cliniko quotes dollars for its practice system. The four that publish nothing leave a UK clinic unable to compare in pounds until a quote arrives.
A UK clinic billed in a foreign currency carries an exchange rate on its software line, and most business cards add a non sterling transaction fee, commonly around 2.75 to 2.99 percent. On one clinician that is a few pounds a month. Across a practice over a year it is a real number that nobody decided.
The larger effect is that the budget moves. A figure set in March against one rate is a different figure in November, which makes a foreign priced subscription harder to forecast than a sterling one at the same headline cost.
The comparison the category likes
A human medical scribe runs roughly $35,000 to $55,000 a year fully loaded, with high turnover typical. Against that every subscription above looks like nothing, which is why the category reaches for the comparison constantly.
It is the wrong comparison for most UK private practices, which were never going to employ a scribe. The relevant alternative is not a person transcribing in the room, it is the clinician typing the note after clinic, and the question is what that hour is worth.

In the United States, the note decides the code
For a US practice the subscription is the smaller number by a wide margin. From 2026 the E/M level turns on Medical Decision Making, which makes the note the evidence for the code, and AAPC reports up to 19 percent of E/M visits undercoded at roughly $37 each. At 4,000 encounters that is around $28,000 a year.
Medicare Advantage downcoding is reported at $42 to $74 off a chronic disease visit and $28,000 to $74,000 a physician a year, and it never arrives as a denial. The 2026 conversion factor of about $32.35 per RVU already took a reported $21,000 to $36,000 a physician, structurally.
None of that applies to a UK private practice, which has no E/M levels and no payer downcoding. A British clinic reading US scribe marketing is being sold on an economic argument that does not exist here, and should discount it entirely. What no scribe prices
Every product on this page covers the note and, at the right tier, the documents that follow from it. The enquiry that was never returned, the result nobody read, the recall list nobody worked and the letter that left a week late sit outside all of them.
That work costs more per month in a busy clinic than any subscription here, and it is paid in people rather than in software, which is why it never appears in a price comparison.
