How the guides map to the Canadian programmes
The hub sets out the 5 headings Accreditation Canada, the CPSO, the CPSBC and Santé Québec work to, and the guides take them one task at a time.
The 5 headings on the Canada hub
- Ontario, CPSO Out-of-Hospital Premises Inspection Program, 10 OHP standards on the hub. Every premises outside a hospital where physicians perform procedures under general, regional or parenteral anesthesia or sedation, or certain cosmetic and pain procedures under local anesthesia, is inspected by the CPSO.
- Ontario, ICHSC Quality Assurance Program by Accreditation Canada, 10 sections of the ICHSC Surgical/Medical Standard on the hub. Community surgical and diagnostic centres licensed under the Integrated Community Health Services Centres Act, 2023 are inspected by Accreditation Canada every four years against the ICHSC Standards.
- British Columbia, CPSBC Non-Hospital Medical and Surgical Facilities Accreditation Program, 7 standard areas on the hub. Only facilities accredited by the NHMSFAP may provide the procedures in Schedule G of the CPSBC Bylaws. Over 50 standards are assessed every 46 to 48 months, using patient tracers.
- Quebec, specialized medical centres under Santé Québec, 6 obligations on the hub. A specialized medical centre needs a Santé Québec authorization, valid for five years, and must have its services accredited by a recognised accreditation body within three years and keep that accreditation.
- Canada, Accreditation Canada Qmentum Global, 6 components on the hub. Qmentum Global for Canadian Accreditation runs on a four-year cycle of self-assessment, survey instruments, attestation and a short-notice on-site assessment by third-party surveyors, against HSO and Accreditation Canada standards.

Questions about the Canada guides
Which Canada guide should I read first?
Start with Getting licensed or accredited, the first guide on this page, about 8 minutes of reading, filed under Licensing. The other 6 each stand on their own, so take them in the order your own preparation needs.
How do these guides relate to the Canada hub?
The Canada hub sets out the 5 headings Accreditation Canada, the CPSO, the CPSBC and Santé Québec work to and how wai evidences each one. Each guide goes one level down, to a single task, with steps to follow, a template to copy, answers to common questions and the sources behind it.
How current are the Canada guides?
Every guide shows the date its facts were checked against the official sources it cites. All 7 were checked on 16 October 2026, the same date the hub shows beside its Updated line.
Are the Canada guides legal advice?
They are guidance, not legal advice, written from what Accreditation Canada, the CPSO, the CPSBC and Santé Québec publish, with a link to the source for each fact. Neither Accreditation Canada, the CPSO, the CPSBC nor Santé Québec endorses wai or any software, and the accreditation decision for your organisation is decided by the accrediting or inspecting body.
How do I request a demo for Canada?
