What is patient recall?
Patient recall is the process of inviting patients back when a review, test, vaccination or follow-up is due. It makes sure care that was planned actually happens, rather than depending on the patient to remember.
Updated . Defined by the wai team for clinics, groups and health systems.

Also called recall system or patient recalls.
Why Patient recall matters to a clinic
A missed recall can be a missed diagnosis, a lapsed treatment or a result that was never acted on. It is also the most reliable source of repeat visits a clinic has, from patients who already trust it.
Recalls fail quietly. A list kept in a spreadsheet or in one person's head stops working the week that person is away.
Questions
Is a recall the same as a reminder?
No. A reminder is about a visit already booked. A recall invites the patient to book one that is due.
Who approves a recall?
