QM-RL guides

Each guide answers one question a provider in Germany asks about QM-RL, from the official sources it cites. There are 7 guides across 6 topics, last checked on 16 October 2026.

The depth of a QM readiness review, written from the QM-Richtlinie, German statute and the Länder's own pages. 4,519 practices were written to in the twelfth KV survey, and these are the answers a sampled practice needs. Each guide ends with how wai does the work.

How the guides map to the QM-RL framework

The hub sets out the 6 headings QM-RL works to, and the guides take them one task at a time.

The 6 headings on the QM-RL hub

  1. Das QM-System, 8 requirements on the hub. Quality management is a leadership task. The practice sets quality goals, measures them, assigns responsibilities in writing, describes its key processes, holds team meetings and reviews itself regularly, within three years of Zulassung.
  2. Risiko- und Fehlermanagement, 7 requirements on the hub. Minimum standards no practice may waive. Risks are identified and managed, errors are reported and learned from, and procedures with two or more doctors or under sedation use an OP checklist. Emergencies, hygiene, medication safety and protection from abuse and violence are regulated too.
  3. Patienten, Information und Beschwerden, 5 requirements on the hub. The practice asks patients for feedback, runs a complaints process patients know about, keeps reliable patient information to hand, and explains every treatment orally, in time and in words the patient understands.
  4. Patientenakte und Datenschutz, 7 rules on the hub. The treatment is documented at the time it happens, a correction never hides what was there before, and the file is kept ten years after treatment ends. Health data needs logging, access limits and, from 20 people, a data protection officer.
  5. Die KV-Stichprobe, 5 requirements on the hub. Each KV asks a random sample of practices for written QM documentation, at least 2.5% every year or 4% every two years, gives feedback and support, and reports through the KBV to the G-BA. A practice that refuses after repeated requests faces a measure under the SGB V.
  6. Approbation, Kammer, Zulassung und Konzession, 6 requirements on the hub. A doctor practises in Germany with an Approbation from a Land authority, reports to the Landesärztekammer and follows its Berufsordnung. Statutory care needs a Zulassung from the Zulassungsausschuss, and a private clinic with inpatient care needs a Konzession under § 30 GewO.

Questions about the QM-RL guides

Which QM-RL guide should I read first?

Start with The QM-Richtlinie for practices, the first guide on this page, about 9 minutes of reading, filed under QM-RL. The other 6 each stand on their own, so take them in the order your own preparation needs.

How do these guides relate to the QM-RL hub?

The QM-RL hub sets out the 6 headings QM-RL works to and how wai evidences each one. Each guide goes one level down, to a single task, with steps to follow, a template to copy, answers to common questions and the sources behind it.

How current are the QM-RL guides?

Every guide shows the date its facts were checked against the official sources it cites. All 7 were checked on 16 October 2026, the same date the hub shows beside its Updated line.

Are the QM-RL guides legal advice?

They are guidance, not legal advice, written from what QM-RL publishes, with a link to the source for each fact. Neither the G-BA, any KV nor any Land authority endorses wai or any software, and the QM check result for your organisation is decided by your Kassenärztliche Vereinigung, and every licence by the Land.

How do I request a demo for QM-RL?

Request a demo from this page and it reaches the wai team with QM-RL already named, so the call starts from QM-RL rather than a general tour. You can also write to team@wellnessa-i.com.
