Summary
wai has no connection to Riayati today, and none is promised, since reading from it runs only through Emirates Health Services or the Ministry of Health and Prevention and wai's profile for it writes nothing. The clinician signs the note in wai and copies it in one click as plain text into the facility's own record system, every signed letter downloads as a PDF with the signature, and the clinic's records in wai are hosted in the UAE.
Riayati is the UAE's national unified medical record, launched by the Ministry of Health and Prevention in December 2021 with the Department of Health Abu Dhabi, Emirates Health Services and the Dubai Health Authority. It is linked to Wareed, the Emirates Health Services record in Dubai and the northern emirates, and to Dubai's NABIDH network.1 A clinic in the UAE does not need a connection to Riayati to use wai. The consultation is captured in wai, the clinician signs the note there, and the signed work goes into the facility's own record by copy and PDF. This page sets out what is true today, what a connection would take, and what runs in wai from the first day.

What is true today, and what is not
wai has no connection to Riayati, and none is promised. wai's records layer, the part of wai built to read a patient's context from a record system and write signed work back through an approval gate, holds a profile for Riayati under the ministry and Emirates Health Services. It records that reading is possible through Emirates Health Services or the ministry only, and that writing is none.
What a connection would need, in that profile, is an agreement with the ministry and Emirates Health Services, Oracle Health's involvement for the Wareed record, and hosting inside the country. Wareed was implemented by the ministry with Cerner,2 and Oracle acquired Cerner in 2022 to form Oracle Health,3 which is why Oracle Health appears on that list. The profile's own estimate of the timeline is six months or more, and unclear.
In-country hosting is the law, not a preference. Federal Law No. 2 of 2019, on the use of information and communication technology in health fields, says health data related to health services provided in the UAE may not be stored, processed, generated or transferred outside the UAE unless a decision of the health authority or the Minister allows it.4 wai hosts the records of UAE clinics in the UAE, under the UAE's rules.
So the route today is the clinician's own hands, kept short. The integrations page lists the connections wai has live or built, and Riayati is not one of them. In Dubai, wai is built to connect to NABIDH, with each facility's connection set up with the clinic, as the Dubai clinic software page sets out.
A clinic day alongside Riayati
Take a 47-year-old seen in a private clinic in Sharjah for tiredness and a raised fasting glucose on a recent blood test. The patient asked on WhatsApp in Arabic for the earliest appointment, and the front desk replied in Arabic from a draft in wai, approved before it was sent.
The consultation is in Arabic. wai captures it in Arabic and drafts the note in English for the record. The clinician reads it in the SOAP view, corrects the family history, which the draft gave as the father rather than the mother, confirms the suggested ICD-10 code and signs.
One click copies the signed note as plain text into the facility's own record system. The letter to the patient, explaining the plan for a repeat test and the changes to diet and activity, is signed in wai and downloaded as a PDF with the signature, and the patient's summary goes home in Arabic beside it.
The recall for the repeat test in three months is set in wai and approved by a person before it goes out, and when the result is back it reaches the patient with the clinician's own comment. This is an illustrative example, not a real patient.
The note and the letters, signed by the clinician
Nothing reaches the record or the patient until the clinician signs it in wai. One captured note can be read as SOAP, problem-oriented, narrative, a bullet summary, a handover or in full detail, and the clinician copies the view the facility's record expects. The copy is plain text, so it pastes cleanly into any note field.
Letters come from the same consultation. A letter to the patient, referral letters that carry the questions for the specialist, results letters, medication change letters, fit-to-fly letters and medico-legal reports are drafted for the clinician to sign, and each signed letter downloads as a PDF with the signature.
Codes are suggested from the note, ICD-10 and SNOMED CT, each shown with the line of the consultation it rests on, for the clinician to confirm. Procedure codes stay with the clinic's own coder. For the wider question, see AI scribes in the UAE and clinic AI without replacing the EHR.
What can run in wai beside the facility's record
The front desk can run in wai from the first day. Calls, email, web forms and WhatsApp land in one thread per patient, replies are drafted in Arabic or English in the clinic's voice, and a person approves each one before it is sent.
wai booking links read each doctor's Google, Outlook or Apple calendar, cancellations backfill from the waitlist and reminders go out. Deposits, invoices, memberships and payment links run through the clinic's own Stripe account. Or the clinic keeps booking where it is and uses wai for everything after the appointment is made.
After the visit, results reach the patient with the doctor's own comment and a plain explanation of each marker, recalls go out with each message approved by a person, and the patient app holds results, letters, messages and payments in the patient's language. Nothing is switched off on the first day.
Arabic, one of wai's 60 languages
wai works in 60 languages, among them English, Arabic, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Italian, Russian, Polish, Turkish, Urdu and Mandarin. A consultation in Arabic or Urdu is captured in that language. The signed note is written in English for the record, and the patient's summary can be in Arabic beside it, with emergency numbers kept exactly as written.
The evidence behind wai's method
The note is one part of the day the evidence measures. In a randomised trial of 238 outpatient physicians across 14 specialties at UCLA Health, the ambient scribe with a significant effect cut the time spent writing each note by about 41 seconds, against 18 seconds in usual care.5 At The Permanente Medical Group, 3,442 physicians used an ambient scribe across 303,266 encounters in its first ten weeks.6 wai is built on that finding, so it takes on the letters, the replies, the booking and the follow-up as well as the note.
A draft stays a draft until a person signs it. wai holds every draft until the clinician signs it, and every reply until a person at the clinic sends it.
The patient's own language matters. In a systematic review of 33 studies, 76% found at least one outcome better when patient and physician shared a language other than English.7 wai captures the consultation in Arabic and gives the patient an Arabic summary beside the English note.
Measured in a working clinic. At The Wellness in London, which runs on wai every day, every clinician has 15 hours a week back, as published in the customer story.8
Where to start
Week one, one clinician, the facility's record unchanged. Capture each consultation in wai, sign the note, copy it into the record and attach the signed letters as PDFs. Count the minutes from the end of each consultation to a signed note in the record.
Week two, add the front desk. Route calls, email, web forms and WhatsApp into wai with replies drafted in Arabic or English, and decide at the end of the fortnight whether booking links and deposits should move as well. The switching checklist covers what to agree first, and technical teams can read the developers and MCP page. Clinics comparing record systems can read wai alongside MEDITECH or wai alongside Doctolib.

Request a demoFrequently asked questions
Does wai integrate with Riayati?
No. wai has no connection to Riayati today and none is promised. Reading runs only through Emirates Health Services or the ministry, and a connection would need an agreement with both.
Can we keep our current system for booking?
Yes. Booking can stay where the clinic keeps it while the note, the letters, the front desk thread and the follow-up run in wai. Booking links and deposits in wai can be added later.
How does the note get into the record?
The clinician signs the note in wai, chooses the view, copies it in one click as plain text and pastes it into the facility's own record system. Letters go in as signed PDFs.
Where are a UAE clinic's records hosted?
In the UAE, under the UAE's rules. wai holds a SOC 2 Type II report, sent on request.
Does wai work in Arabic?
Yes. A consultation in Arabic is captured in Arabic and written up as a signed English note, with the patient's summary in Arabic beside it. Front desk replies are drafted in Arabic or English.
Does wai connect to NABIDH in Dubai?
wai is built to connect to NABIDH, with each facility's connection set up with the clinic. Riayati is a separate national record, and wai has no connection to it.
