Summary
In our reading of this market Jane is the allied health standard across Canada and much of the United States, and it publishes what it costs. Balance at $54 a month for a single practitioner profile capped at 20 appointments a month, Practice at $79 and Thrive at $99, each including one full time practitioner with a per practitioner fee above that. Read on jane.app on 8 September 2026.
Add-ons are published as well. AI Scribe at $15 a month per opted in practitioner, group telehealth at $15, insurance billing at $20 a month plus $5 per full time practitioner, and Jane Websites at $59 a month per clinic. A $15 scribe is the cheapest in this comparison by a distance.
wai is a larger purchase built for a different constraint. Jane makes a clinic's booking, charting and billing pleasant to run. wai answers the enquiry, books the appointment, composes the note from the encounter and drafts the letter, and publishes its price on one page.
A $15 scribe fixes the note. Ask what fixes the other four hours.

What Jane is good at
Being liked by the people who use it. Jane has an unusual reputation among physiotherapy, chiropractic and massage clinics for software that reception staff do not complain about, and in practice management that is worth more than a feature list. Ease of use is the reason clinics stay.
Price honesty including the add-ons. Three tiers, the per practitioner fee above the first, and each add-on named with its own figure. The AI Scribe at $15 a month per opted in practitioner is the lowest published scribe price in this entire comparison set.
Insurance billing built for North America. $20 a month plus $5 per full time practitioner and $2.50 per part time one, which we do not offer at all in that market.
The cap on the entry plan
Balance at $54 a month is limited to 20 appointments a month and one practitioner profile, published on jane.app and read on 8 September 2026. That is a genuine plan for a very part time practice and it is not a trial.
It is also easy to outgrow without noticing. A clinician seeing 5 patients a week is at 20 by the fourth week, and the step up is Practice at $79 or Thrive at $99 plus per practitioner fees. As with any capped tier, price the plan you will be on in six months.
Carebit runs the same shape in the UK with an 18 booking limit on its entry plan. The comparison is in Carebit vs wai.
Where the two models part
Jane is a container your team runs, and a very good one. Booking, charting, payments and reporting each become quicker, and a person still does each of them.
wai is priced on the work rather than the container. The enquiry answered, the appointment booked, the note composed, the letter drafted, with phone, email and messaging on one patient record. It costs more because it stands in for hours.
A $15 scribe is the sharpest illustration of the difference. It makes the note faster and touches nothing else in the day. That is excellent value for what it is, and it is not the same purchase.
Which one
Choose Jane if you run allied health in Canada or the United States, you have reception cover, and you want well liked software with published prices and cheap add-ons.
Choose wai if the constraint is hours rather than software. For the behavioural health equivalent of this comparison, read SimplePractice vs wai.
What we are not claiming
We do not run insurance billing in Canada or the United States, and a clinic that bills payers should not shortlist us on that basis. Jane charges $20 a month plus $5 per full time practitioner for it, read on 8 September 2026, and that is a service we do not offer at any price.
We are also not cheaper. Jane at $79 with a $15 scribe is a fraction of our published price, and a clinic optimising software cost should buy Jane.
Frequently asked questions
How much does Jane cost?
Jane publishes Balance at $54 a month for one practitioner profile limited to 20 appointments a month, Practice at $79 and Thrive at $99, each including one full time practitioner with a per practitioner fee above that. Add-ons include AI Scribe at $15 per opted in practitioner, insurance billing at $20 plus $5 per full time practitioner, and Jane Websites at $59 per clinic. Read on jane.app on 8 September 2026.
What is the Jane 20 appointment limit?
The Balance plan at $54 a month is limited to 20 appointments a month on a single practitioner profile, published on jane.app and read on 8 September 2026. A clinician seeing 5 patients a week reaches it inside a month, so budget for Practice at $79 or Thrive at $99 rather than the entry figure.
How much is the Jane AI scribe?
$15 a month per opted in practitioner for unlimited use, read on jane.app on 8 September 2026. That is the lowest published scribe price among the products in this comparison. It drafts the note and does not reach the enquiries, the bookings or the letters, which is a scope difference rather than a quality one.
Does wai work in Canada?
wai does not run provincial insurance billing in Canada, so a clinic billing through a provincial plan should choose a product built for it, and Jane is the obvious candidate. Where a Canadian practice is entirely private pay, the comparison becomes what each product does with the hours, and that is worth a conversation.
Jane or wai for an allied health clinic?
Jane, in most cases, if you have reception cover and want low cost software your team enjoys using. wai if enquiries go unanswered, bookings are lost after hours and letters wait, because those are hours rather than software problems and a cheaper container does not reach them.
