The figure to read first is not the headline. Balance at £29 is limited to 20 appointments a month and one practitioner profile, which a clinician seeing five patients a week reaches by the fourth week. Price the plan you will be on in month three rather than the one you start on.
Note also that Jane localises. A reader in the United States sees dollars and a reader here sees sterling, so any Jane price quoted in dollars on a UK page is the American view of the same product rather than what a British clinic will pay.

The published pound ladder

The add-ons are published too, each with its own figure rather than a vague upgrade prompt. AI Scribe is £15 a month per opted in practitioner for unlimited notes with a free trial, group telehealth is £8, insurance billing is £10 a month plus £2 for each additional full time practitioner and £1 for each part time one, and Jane Websites is £59 a month per clinic.
That is the most complete public price list of any vendor in this comparison set. Cliniko publishes six bands but only in dollars, set out in Cliniko pricing in the UK, and most of the rest publish nothing at all.
The cap on the entry tier
Balance is limited to 20 appointments a month and one practitioner profile. That is a real limit rather than a soft one, and it is the single most important number on the page for anyone budgeting from the headline £29 figure.
Twenty appointments is five a week. A part time clinician building a list passes it inside the first month or two, and the step up is Practice at £44 or Thrive at £55 before any per practitioner fees or add-ons are counted.
None of this is hidden. Jane states the cap plainly on the same page as the price, which is more than most of this category manages, and a clinic that reads it will not be surprised.
The figure worth comparing
Add the tier, the per practitioner fee and the add-ons a clinic will actually turn on. A three practitioner practice on Practice with the scribe running for everybody is paying the £44 base, two further practitioners at £19, and £15 each for the scribe, which is a different figure from £44.
That arithmetic is not a criticism. It is what a published price list makes possible, and it is precisely the calculation a clinic cannot do against a vendor that quotes only after a demo.
The £15 scribe deserves its own note. It is the lowest published scribe price in this entire comparison set and excellent value for what it does, which is make the note faster and touch nothing else in the day.
What Jane is good at
Allied health, at a standard the rest of the category measures itself against. Jane is the default across Canada and much of the United States for physiotherapy, chiropractic, massage and similar practices, and the scheduling, charting and online booking are built for exactly that shape of clinic.
It also publishes honestly and in the buyer's own currency, caps included. Among the vendors here only Jane and wai show a UK reader a sterling figure for everything they sell.
A clinic whose problem is the diary and the note should look hard at Jane and may well stop there.
What we are not claiming
wai is not cheaper than Jane and will not become cheaper. On licence cost Jane wins, and a practice whose binding constraint is the monthly software bill should buy Jane and stop reading here rather than pay more for scope it does not need.
