Accurx Scribe vs WA\

Published July 24, 2026Updated July 24, 2026

Summary

Accurx is not primarily a scribe company. It is the messaging layer a large share of NHS general practice already uses every day, and adding an ambient scribe to a tool the practice already has open is a genuinely strong move. Distribution wins arguments that features cannot.

If you are an NHS GP practice already living in Accurx, trying its scribe costs you almost nothing and slots into a workflow you know. That convenience is the product, and it is a real one.

WA\ is a different shape. It is the whole private clinic on one record, the enquiry, the booking, the note, the letters with citations, and the coding. If you left the NHS workflow behind, you need more than a scribe bolted to a messenger.

What Accurx is good at

Being already there. Accurx solved NHS patient messaging so well that it became infrastructure, and infrastructure gets to add features with zero adoption cost. Its scribe inherits that position.

For an NHS practice the honest advice is simple. Try the tool you already have before you buy a new one, and judge the note quality for yourself against a specialist product.

Where the fit breaks for private work

Accurx is shaped by the NHS. NHS login, NHS lists, NHS pathways. A private clinic runs on enquiries that arrive over WhatsApp at nine in the evening, self-pay billing, referral letters on headed paper and follow-up that sells the next appointment. That is not the problem Accurx set out to solve.

A scribe feature inside a messenger also stops at the note. The letter, the code, the invoice and the recall live somewhere else, which in most private clinics means they live with you, after hours.

What the evidence says

The category has one randomised trial, Nabla's, which cut note-writing time 9.5 percent, about 41 seconds an encounter. Newer scribe features, Accurx's included, ship without trial evidence, as ours did. Judge any scribe by reading its notes against your own consultations for a week.

Simulated-encounter research puts average hallucination near 7 percent across the category, worst on the physical exam. Whatever you buy, the clinician signs the note. That rule does not move.

Which one

Inside an NHS practice that already runs Accurx, try its scribe first. It is the rational starting point and switching costs you nothing.

Running a private clinic, or leaving to start one, choose the system built for that world. WA\ covers the enquiry to the invoice on one record, publishes its price, and is live this week.

What we are not claiming

We are not the NHS messaging layer and we will not pretend to compete with Accurx's install base inside NHS general practice. Our product is the private clinic, whole. Theirs is the NHS conversation. Both can be true.

Frequently asked questions

Does Accurx have an AI scribe?

Yes. Accurx has added an ambient scribe capability to its NHS-focused platform, which most UK GP practices already use for patient messaging. For an NHS practice it is the obvious first thing to try because it sits inside a tool the team already runs. Judge its note quality directly against a specialist scribe over a week of your own consultations.

Can I use Accurx for a private clinic?

Accurx is built NHS-first, around NHS logins, lists and pathways. Some private and mixed practices use parts of it, but private clinic operations, self-pay billing, WhatsApp enquiries, referral letters and recalls are not its centre. WA\ is built for exactly that set of jobs on one record, with a published price.

Should I buy Accurx or WA\?

If you are an NHS GP practice already running Accurx, try its scribe first, it costs you nothing to evaluate. If you are running a private clinic, WA\ covers the note, the letters, the coding, the billing context and the front desk together, is UK-native for UK GDPR, and is live this week with a published price.
